A thin, circular flap will be created in the cornea with a femtosecond laser. Second, the surgeon folds back the hinged flap to get to the underlying cornea and then removes some corneal tissue by using an excimer laser. After, the laser reshapes the cornea and the flap is laid back in place. Then your cornea is allowed to heal naturally!
LASIK can also correct astigmatism. It smooths an irregular cornea into a more normal shape.
The surgery requires only topical anesthetic drops. No bandages or stitches are required.
The LASIK procedure reshapes the cornea to enable light entering the eye so it can be focused properly onto the retina for clearer vision.
